Voraussetzung
Zwei Matrizen lassen sich nur dann miteinander multiplizieren, wenn die Spaltenanzahl der ersten Matrix mit der Zeilenanzahl der zweiten Matrix übereinstimmt.
Beispiel 1
Ist eine Multiplikation der Matrizen
$$ A_{(2,{\color{green}3})} \cdot B_{({\color{green}3},2)} = \begin{pmatrix} {\color{green}a_{11}} & {\color{green}a_{12}} & {\color{green}a_{13}} \\ a_{21} & a_{22} & a_{23} \end{pmatrix} \cdot \begin{pmatrix} {\color{green}b_{11}} & b_{12} \\ {\color{green}b_{21}} & b_{22} \\ {\color{green}b_{31}} & b_{32} \end{pmatrix} $$

Das Multiplizieren von $A$
und $B$
ist möglich,da die Spaltenanzahl von $A$
der Zeilenanzahl von $B$
entspricht.

Ist eine Multiplikation der Matrizen

Das Multiplizieren von $A$
und $B$
ist nicht möglich,da die Spaltenanzahl von $A$
nicht der Zeilenanzahl von $B$
entspricht.
Produktmatrix
Das Ergebnis der Multiplikation heißt Produktmatrix, Matrixprodukt oder Matrizenprodukt.
Die Produktmatrix hat so viele Zeilen wie die Matrix $A$
und so viele Spalten wie die Matrix $B$
.

$$ A_{({\color{blue}2},3)} \cdot B_{(3,{\color{blue}2})} = C_{({\color{blue}2},{\color{blue}2})} $$

Rechenregeln
$$ (A \cdot B) \cdot C = A \cdot (B \cdot C) $$
Assoziativgesetz
$$ A \cdot (B+C) = (A \cdot B) + (A \cdot C) $$
$$ (A + B) \cdot C = (A \cdot C) + (B \cdot C) $$
Distributivgesetz
ACHTUNG!
Im Allgemeinen gilt: $A \cdot B \neq B \cdot A$
.
Das Kommutativgesetz (der Multiplikation) gilt für Matrizen nicht!
Matrizenmultiplikation mit dem Falk-Schema
Um Matrizen per Hand zu multiplizieren, verwendet man meist das sog. Falk-Schema

Am besten ist es, wenn wir das Falk-Schema anhand eines Beispiels erklären:
Beispiel 5
Gegeben sind die Matrizen
$$ A = \begin{pmatrix} 1 & 2 & 3 \\ 3 & 1 & 1 \end{pmatrix} \quad\text{und}\quad B = \begin{pmatrix} 2 & 1 \\ 1 & 2 \\ 2 & 1 \end{pmatrix}. $$
Berechne das Matrixprodukt $A \cdot B$
