With modest offerings for the month of September, Paramount+ may not be the go-to for new TV shows, but the streaming service is offering a few pleasant surprises. This month's biggest draw must be the second season of Tulsa King, with the Sylvester Stallone crime drama/comedy coming from a successful and addictive first season. For fans of '80s hair metal, Nöthin’ But a Good Time offers a candid look at the stories behind the biggest bands of the era in terms of popularity and hair volume. Those looking for a guilty pleasure for the month will want to check out the new Korean rom-com, Dreaming of a Freaking Fairy Tale.
Beyond the below-highlighted titles, subscribers to Paramount+ have a few other shows to look forward to this month. For family entertainment, the 3-D animated adventures of DORA continue when its second season premieres on September 13. Despite mixed reviews, the second season of Fraser will be available on September 19. Finally, the Australian dramedy Colin From Accounting kicks off its second season on September 29. Those with a SHOWTIME subscription with Paramount+ can also look forward to new seasons of long-running shows like The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, The Drew Barrymore Show, Survivor, and Let’s Make A Deal.
Tulsa King (Season 2)

After the first season concluded on a cliffhanger, with Dwight being betrayed and hung up to dry with the future of his relationships with Stacy and his daughter Tina in question, the second season of Tulsa King could not come quickly enough. The second season looks to pick up where the first left off, navigating Dwight's new financial troubles and the impending threat of enemies like Chickie, the new boss of the Invernizzi family looking to stake his claim to the crime world of Oklahoma.

Tulsa King's debut season in 2022 certainly had some hype behind it, with many touting it as Sylvester Stallone's best performance since Creed. The mix of crime, drama, and humor backed by a strong cast, including stand-outs like Martin Starr and Andrea Savage, made for must-watch TV for many. Described as a 'guilty pleasure' for some viewers, with some critics calling it a "soap opera for dudes," Tulsa King Season 2 is the most anticipated ongoing series. Tulsa King Season 2 is streaming on September 15.
Nöthin’ But a Good Time: The Uncensored Story of ’80s Hair Metal (Docuseries)
Available September 17
The three-part mini-series shines a light on one of music history's most notoriously wild periods: the '80s hair metal scene. The exciting music docuseries offers a candid look behind the scenes with interviews with some of the biggest bands of the time, including Poison, Ratt, Ozzy Osbourne, W.A.S.P., and Skid Row. It also features cultural commentary from Riki Rachtman, Corey Taylor, and Steve-O. The honest look at the era touches on all the glamor and wild parties but also the fallout of drug addiction and life on the road.
Decades removed from the 'hair metal' era may not make it quite as big of a draw as it once was (if you don't know who any of the bands are, ask your parents; they may even have it on vinyl). However, there is an undeniable draw to a 'live fast, die young' mentality that is oddly alluring around the period in music that saw many bands rise to prominence quickly and struggle under the pressure of success, like capturing lightning in a bottle. As stories of epic parties and debauchery have always hung around this era of music, it will be fascinating to see what tales the docuseries unearths. Nöthin’ But a Good Time: The Uncensored Story of ’80s Hair Metal is streaming on September 17.
