Final Fantasy 7 (VII) Rebirth All Minigames Guide (2024)

This Final Fantasy VII Rebirth Minigames Guide explains how to complete all Minigames and where to find them. The game features a wide range of different minigames. Each one requires learning a new game mechanic.

You need to reach the highscore in all minigames (including their hard version) to get all of Johnny’s Treasure Trove Items for the 7-Star Hotel trophy. The only exception being Piano Songs which you only need to A-Rank (S-Rank not required). For everything else: if it’s in the game you’ll need thehighest rank reward if you want the Platinum trophy.

Queen’s Blood

  • Unlock Requirement:Unlocked automatically at the start of Chapter 2 when you are given the Queen’s Blood Starter Deck

Queen’s Blood is a Card minigame. It takes place on a board with 3 lanes, each having 5 tiles (15 tiles total). Each winning lane scores points and each losing lane is counted as zero points. The winner is decided by who has the most points at the end of the match. The best approach is to focus on only two lanes, they will both count as zero points for the opponent thus your win is assured.

This minigame stretches throughout the whole game and it’s by far the most complex minigame. We have in-depth guides below:

Moogle Mischief

  • Unlock Requirement: Find any of the7 “Moogle Intel” in the open world.

Moogle Mischief is triggered when you enter any of the Moogstools (Mushroom houses where Moogles live) in the open world. This will open a portal door that beams you into the Moogstool. There you have to chase some moogles to the mushroom in the middle of the area. These get increasingly more complex with time limits, more obstacles and traps. You must avoid the Moogles’ special attacks and approach them from the opposite direction to herd them back to the center. It doesn’t matter to which side of the mushroom you chase them, as long as they arrive on the grassy patch on any side it will count.

For all Moogle Intel locations see this guide:

Hustle de Chocobo

  • Unlock Requirement:Automatically from Chapter 2 during main story

Hustle de Chocobo is a chocobo race at Bill’s ranch in the Grasslands. You automatically do it as your first activity when unlocking the chocobo in the story. Double-tap R2 to start sprinting and follow the waypoints around the track.

Piano Performance

Final Fantasy 7 (VII) Rebirth All Minigames Guide (1)

  • Unlock Requirement:Unlocked by collecting the Piano Sheet Music. There are 8 Piano Songs total but for trophies you only need the first 6 with A-Rank

Piano Performance is a rhythm minigame where you must press the left and right stick to play notes on the piano. The notes will show as yellow rings, you must tilt the stick in the last moment in the correct direction for it to count as “Great”. If you tilt the stick too early it will count as “Good” or “Bad” which will give a lower score. For trophies you only need A-Rank, which requires getting about 90% “Great”. Missing a few notes is fine. There is a big learning curve initially to learn the timing as you’ll specifically need the “Great” and not the “Good” timings to land an A-Rank. For S-Rank you’d need 100% “Great” without any Good/Bad/Misses, but luckily this isn’t needed for any trophies.

For the piano song locations refer to the guide below:

»AllPiano Song (Sheet Music)Locations

Jumpfrog / Leapfrog

Final Fantasy 7 (VII) Rebirth All Minigames Guide (2)

  • Unlock Requirement:Finish Side Quest: Calling All Frogs, in Chapter 4 in Under Junon

Jumpfrog has you playing as a frog on a platform and you must jump over obstacles. The best strategy is to stay in the exact spot where you start at. Don’t run left and right like the other frogs. There are two spinning beams, one at the top and one at the bottom. Jump when the bottom beam gets close to you. Later on the platform will partially fall apart, but the section where you spawned will stay intact. The beams will start getting faster too after a specific time has passed. After 40 seconds you may need to move a little bit left and right before your jumps to not get hit by the top beam mid-jump.

Fort Condor

Final Fantasy 7 (VII) Rebirth All Minigames Guide (3)

  • Unlock Requirement:Unlocked from Junon Phenomenon Intelin Chapter 4

Fort Condor is the minigame you may already know fromFinal Fantasy VII Remake. It works the same way here. The goal is to destroy the boss unit on the other side. Look at the ATB gauge on the top left, every time it fills 2-3 segments you can spawn a unit. On the right side it shows what units the CPU will spawn. In the top right it shows what each unit type’s strength/weakness is (attack, defense, ranged). Always play a unit that’s strong against the upcoming units, as seen on the right side. So if you see the opponent spawn attack units you should always put defense units on that side. If the opponent uses defense units you put ranged, if he puts ranged you put attack. After you defeat the boss units you’ll win.Putting the game on easy difficulty in the settingsmakes this easier.

There are 4 of these in Junon region, refer to the Phenomenon Intel below:

»AllPhenomenon Intel (Protorelic) Locations

Fort Condor – Hard Mode

Final Fantasy 7 (VII) Rebirth All Minigames Guide (4)

  • Unlock Requirement:Unlockedafter clearing allJunon Phenomenon Intelin Chapter 4

After you finished all 4 of the regular Fort Condor minigames you’ll unlock Hard Mode. This can be played by revisiting the Phenomenon Intel in Junon region. Putting the game on easy difficulty in the settingsmakes this easier.

On Hard you can only place a limited number of all units (including the lowest level units which were unlimited on Normal). For the first 3 stages, the default Team Setup #1 “Balanced” is fine. For the 4th stage you should use Team Setup #2 “Offense Focused”. Because the boss uses poison around it that will kill all melee units, you must attack with ranged units. Put 3 Trebuchets in front of the boss to bombard him (after clearing out all enemies). Just like you have limited units, the opponent does too. So after defeating them all you can spam your 3 Trebuchets and they’ll make quick work of the boss. You can also try the aggression team for the other stages if you have trouble. You change this by tapping R2 before the match in the character screen. For heroes always use Cloud + Barret. Use them against regular enemies when there are multiple close together. Especially Cloud will deal a lot of AOE damage that kills most enemy units.

Dolphin Show

  • Unlock Requirement:Automatically as part of Chapter 4 story

Dolphin Show has you riding on the back of a Dolphin. You must swim into balls in the water to speed up, and avoid hitting any obstacles as they slow you down. Finish the course within the time limit. There’s another version of this minigame later in Chapter 12 from Side Quest: Tides of War and Worry.

Junon Parade

Final Fantasy 7 (VII) Rebirth All Minigames Guide (5)

  • Unlock Requirement:Automatically as part of Chapter 4 story

The Junon Parade takes place in Chapter 4 inLarboard Junon during Objective “No I in Team”. This consists of a parade where you spin rifles and must press buttons when they appear on the screen. You will first need to recruit 7th Infantry Troopers, these can then be used during the Parade to createformation bonuses. The higher the difficulty of the formations you perform (3 stars is highest difficulty) the higher a score you can obtain. Winning the Parade unlocks Final Fantasy 7 (VII) Rebirth All Minigames Guide (6) Stealing the Show trophy.

Refer to the guide below for all Infantries and the best formations:

Card Tournament

Final Fantasy 7 (VII) Rebirth All Minigames Guide (7)

Winning the Tournament unlocks Final Fantasy 7 (VII) Rebirth All Minigames Guide (8)Card Royalty trophy. The rules are the same as regular Queen’s Blood. If you always defeated all Queen’s Blood players up to Chapter 5 it shouldn’t be a problem. If you lose against an opponent you can rematch until you win to advance to the next round. Beat each round to win the tournament (this also unlocks the Card 095 Ifrit which is one of the best in the game).

Card Carnival

Crunch-Off

  • Unlock Requirement:Finish Side Quest:Bodybuilders in a Bind

Similar to the gym minigame in Remake, this one has you doing Crunches instead which are a bit easier. Here you must use the shoulder buttons R1/L1/L2/R2 when they are shown on screen to complete a crunch. After a few presses the shoulder buttons will disappear and you must find the rhythm on your own. When a glowing ring appears around a button you must repeatedly press it to keep crunching.

G-Bike

  • Unlock Requirement:Automatically as part of the Chapter 8 story in Gold Saucer

G-Bike has you driving a motorcycle while being chased by enemies. To steer you can press L2 to brake, and to accelerate hold R2. When enemies approach you must drive close to them and use Final Fantasy 7 (VII) Rebirth All Minigames Guide (12) Final Fantasy 7 (VII) Rebirth All Minigames Guide (13) to hit them. Use Final Fantasy 7 (VII) Rebirth All Minigames Guide (14) for a special spinning slash that destroys all enemies around you (best timed when enemies approach behind you). Drive through the glowing blue and yellow icons to fill your energy and gain extra points, remember to use L2 to brake and steer.

3D Brawler

Final Fantasy 7 (VII) Rebirth All Minigames Guide (15)

  • Unlock Requirement: Automatically as part of the Chapter 8 story in Gold Saucer

This is a boxing minigame. Evade all enemy attacks by tilting the left/right stick in the correct direction. When the enemy glows blue you must attack with R2. Figuring out the opponent’s moves is the tricky part. It’s best to just watch the opponent’s attacks for a few rounds (just get beaten up and restart to learn the pattern). This is all about pattern recognition. In the 3D Brawler select it shows what attacks each opponent has and what dodges are relevant. If the opponent attacks from the left you must always dodge with the left stick, if he attacks from the right you must dodge with right stick. When the opponent pulls back his arm you can pause to guess what his next attack will be. If he puts his hand down he’ll do an uppercut, dodge with Final Fantasy 7 (VII) Rebirth All Minigames Guide (16) / Final Fantasy 7 (VII) Rebirth All Minigames Guide (17) – if he puts his hand up he’ll do a straight punch which you dodge with Final Fantasy 7 (VII) Rebirth All Minigames Guide (18) / Final Fantasy 7 (VII) Rebirth All Minigames Guide (19) – if he puts his hand in the middle or slightly to the side he’ll do a hook which you dodge with Final Fantasy 7 (VII) Rebirth All Minigames Guide (20) / Final Fantasy 7 (VII) Rebirth All Minigames Guide (21) .

Each opponent will take some practice to learn their attack pattern. Some will start burning red, then they use many quick attacks in a row but the order of those red attacks is scripted and always the same. If you dodge all red attacks the enemy gets groggy and you are guaranteed to land a strike.

Pause buffering makes this a lot easier (pausing whenever the opponent pulls back his arm). This way you don’t need such fast reaction time.

Beating one opponent unlocks the next one. Sephiroth is the final opponent and only available after the final Side Quest “Can’t Stop Won’t Stop“. Must have beaten all other Side Quests in the game to access this.

Galactic Saviors

  • Unlock Requirement: Automatically as part of the Chapter 8 story in Gold Saucer

This is a 2Dspace shooter where you fly a spaceship. Shoot the approaching spaceships while dodging their bullets. You can also heal (you have 5 health kits), and shoot powerful Proton Bombs with Final Fantasy 7 (VII) Rebirth All Minigames Guide (22) . Use the Proton Bombs against strong enemies, they need time to recharge.

Musclehead Colosseum

  • Unlock Requirement:Automatically as part of the Chapter 8 story in Gold Saucer, more challenges unlock in Chapter 9, 12, and after finishing the story

Chocobo Racing

  • Unlock Requirement: Automatically as part of the Chapter 8 story in Gold Saucer (becomes accessible in Chapter 9)

The first Chocobo Race happens near the end of Chapter 8 from the story. Then in Chapter 9 you can revisit the Chocobo Square in Gold Saucer to play the races. The remaining races unlock in Chapter 12, and after finishing Side Quest:Esoteric Secrets of the Elders. Then you can play the Gold Cup.

You can customize your Chocobo with different gear that you can buy from chocobo merchants, found at chocobo ranches. These require golden plumes which you get from repairing Chocobo Stopsand from Chocobo Intel.

Go for the loadout with the highest speed score. The blue chocobo unlocked from Nibel Region is the fastest (requiresSide Quest:Esoteric Secrets of the Elders). Run through the blue powerups to speed up. Some tracks also have shortcuts. If you have trouble with drifting, you can simply slow down before sharp turns and then speed up again.

Desert Rush

  • Unlock Requirement: Automatically as part of the Chapter 8 story in The Dustbowl (Corel Prison)

Desert Rush requires you to destroy boxes within a time limit. This can be played in The Dustbowl (Corel Prison). You first gain access to it when you must find food for Piko during the story to prepare for the first Chocobo Race.

There will be gear boxes blocking your path. Destroy the Shock Boxes that have a yellow lightning icon on them, then you can destroy the Gear Boxes. Hold Final Fantasy 7 (VII) Rebirth All Minigames Guide (23) to do a spinning attack that destroys all small boxes in a radius around you. For big boxes use Cloud’s Braver ability to destroy them in one hit.

Cactuar Crush

Final Fantasy 7 (VII) Rebirth All Minigames Guide (24)

  • Unlock Requirement:Unlocked from Phenomenon Intel (Protorelic) in Corel region, Chapter 9

This is part of the Phenomenon Intel in Corel Region (after reaching Corel Desert in Chapter 9). Note that the last two Phenomenon Intel aren’t accessible until the end of Chapter 12.

This minigame has you defeat waves of Cactuars as Yuffie/Aerith within a time limit. The color of the Cactuars indicates what attacks they are weak to.Putting the game on easy difficulty in the settingsmakes this easier.

As Yuffie:Gladiatuars are weak to physical damage, Magituars are weak to Yuffie’s Ninjutsu magic. If you want to keep it real simply you can just spam Final Fantasy 7 (VII) Rebirth All Minigames Guide (25) for AOE damage, this will be good enough to reach Rank 1. To reach the highscore you’ll need to exploit the correct weakness on the enemies to defeat them fast.

As Aerith:You can cast Luminous/Shadow Ward with L2/R2. Then while standing inside the Ward can use light or dark magic. The bright Cactuars are weak to Luminous Ward, the dark Cactuars are weak to Shadow Ward.

For all their locations refer to Corel Region Phenomenon Intel:

»AllPhenomenon Intel (Protorelic) Locations

Cactuar Crush – Hard Mode

Final Fantasy 7 (VII) Rebirth All Minigames Guide (26)

  • Unlock Requirement:Unlockedafter completing allPhenomenon Intel (Protorelic)in Corel region,Chapter 12

After unlocking Protorelic in Corel region you will unlock the hard version of Cactuar Crush. The earliest opportunity is in Chapter 12 as that’s when the last 2 Phenomenon Intel spawn in Corel.

For both characters: Equip Hermes Shoes Accessory for auto-haste (won from Titan Slam Grade II Chocobo Race in Gold Saucer) and a maxed out First Strike Materia (from combat simulator challenges).Putting the game on easy difficulty in the settingsmakes this easier.

Yuffie: Have doppleganger up at all times. For big groups use windstorm to draw them in, then use art of war while they are all grouped together, for any remaining just use the appropriate physical/ninjutsu attacks to finish them off. For Gigantuars use the relevant weakness with doppleganger, art of war and powered up banishments deal a lot of damage.

Aerith: Keep casting the relevant Wards as they change affinity often. For gigantuars keep a charged up Transcendence. Elemental skills such as Heat Ray work well on groups. Sorcerous Storm is very good when surrounded by groups, especially against the orange and gold cactuars. You need to get rid of the orange onesquickly or they will throw bombs which knock you around, losing you points and wasting a lot of time.

Glide de Chocobo (Training Courses)

Final Fantasy 7 (VII) Rebirth All Minigames Guide (27)

  • Unlock Requirement:From Side Quest: Bonds of Trust in Chapter 10 in Cosmo Canyon region

This minigame has you gliding on a chocobo through rings in the air. Each ring has a score value. Fly through all rings for the highscore. You visit the Gliding Ranges as part ofSide Quest: Bonds of Trust(which also unlocks the Chocobo in Cosmo Canyon).

The first one is easy but then you’ll have rings that move or require divebombing. When the targets are below you, you must dive down sharply, then quickly pull back up to fly higher. This is a matter of practice and diving / pulling up at the right time. You’ll also have to fly into the wind turbines to get lifted higher up in the air. When you dive, look at the wings of your chocobo, when you see a “wind effect” on the wings that’s when you can pull back up to generate enough uplift.

On Training Course No. 3 you’ll have to start pressing R2 when the two gold rings in front of you are overlapping. Then you’ll hit both rings perfectly. The last two rings are hard to hit. You’ll have to get the maximum uplift on the last ring before that. After hitting the last ring what helped me was to fly slightly left to the final double-ringand thensteer to the right, instead of flying to it in a straight line (flying in a half-circle motion). The last two are a bit of luck and perfect timing to pull back the stick at just the right time.

Gears and Gambits

Final Fantasy 7 (VII) Rebirth All Minigames Guide (28)

  • Unlock Requirement: Unlocked fromPhenomenon Intel (Protorelic)inCosmo Canyon region, Chapter10

This is the minigame in Cosmo Canyon region as part of the Phenomenon Intel there. It’s similar to Fort Condor, except this time you use robots. The goal is to defeat the boss in the middle. Each type of robot is strong against another type: Type 1 is effective against Ice, Type 2 against fire, Type 3 against Lightning. It will show the weakness icon above the enemy’s head, so simply play the ones matching that icon. You see an ATB bar in the bottom left of the screen, whenever it’s charged you can deploy one of 3 robot types by pressing Final Fantasy 7 (VII) Rebirth All Minigames Guide (29) . If the enemy has a blue ice icon you play your Type 1 which has ice attacks, against red fire icon you play your Type 2 which has Fire Attacks, against yellow lightning icon you play Type 3.

The first two fights are easy. But the third and fourth get much harder. The enemies are flying and must be shot down first. You’ll need to equip your robots with gravity or missiles to shoot down the flying enemies. In the robot selection screen, press Final Fantasy 7 (VII) Rebirth All Minigames Guide (30) , then Final Fantasy 7 (VII) Rebirth All Minigames Guide (31) to auto-equip your robots with the best loadout for the fight. This will make it significantly easier. Because the enemies are flying you’ll be quicker to defeat them when you play two of the robot types they are weak against. For example, if an enemy has a yellow lightning icon, you should play 2x Type 3 Robots (equipped with lightning attacks) in a row. They will quickly shoot down the flying enemy with their missile or gravity attack and then they will follow up with their elemental attacks. This quickly clears the path forward to the boss. After putting 2 robots, let the ATB charge enough that you can place another 2 when the next enemy spawns. This way you always have 2 robots in reserve to counter whatever the opponents are weak against. If you don’t have any luck with your loadout, go back to the customization menu before the fight, and press Final Fantasy 7 (VII) Rebirth All Minigames Guide (32) > Final Fantasy 7 (VII) Rebirth All Minigames Guide (33) again to have it automatically customize your robots.

For all 4 locations refer to the Phenomenon Intel in Cosmo Canyon:

»AllPhenomenon Intel (Protorelic) Locations

Gears and Gambits – Hard Mode

Final Fantasy 7 (VII) Rebirth All Minigames Guide (34)

  • Unlock Requirement:Unlockedafter completing allPhenomenon Intel (Protorelic)inCosmo Canyon region, Chapter10

Putting the game on easy difficulty in the settingsmakes this easier. After unlocking Protorelic in Cosmo Canyon region you will unlock the hard version ofGears and Gambits. On Hard you can’t use the automated building option before the match. You will have to customize the robots yourself. You are also limited to having only 2 of each robot on the field at any given time (but can keep playing them infinitely when one dies). Because of the limit, you’ll want to make each robot as strong as possible. This makes them more expensive but will improve survivability.

Also set the game to easy difficulty in the settings, this seems to make the AI play worse.

Here’s the setup that worked for me for every Hard match:

  • T1 Robot (Blue) (750 Health / 95 Cost / 10 ATB / Fire Affinity)
    • Foe = Blizzaga Shot – condition: 1 enemy destroyed
    • Foe: Airborne = Gravity Shot
    • Foe = Shock
    • Elemental Weakness Priority = Blizzard Shot
    • Self: Modify HP & Cost = Cost -20
  • T2 Robot (Red) (900 Health, 135 Cost, 14 ATB / Thunder affinity)
    • Foe = Firaga Shot – condition: 1 enemy destroyed
    • Foe: Airborne = Missile
    • Elemental Weakness Priority = Fire Shot
    • Foe = Hyper Lariat
    • Self: Modify HP & Cost = 150 HP
  • T3 Robot (Yellow) (1050 HP, 130 Cost, 13 ATB, Ice Affinity)
    • Foe = Thundaga Shot – condition: 1 enemy destroyed
    • Foe: Airborne = Gravity Shot
    • Elemental Weakness Priority = Thunder Shot
    • Foe = Lariat
    • Self: Modify HP & Cost = HP +300, Cost +15
  • Portal Skills: Aeroga & Comet

If an opponent plays more of one specific color robot, you can switch the HP +300, Cost +15 to that robot to improve survivability.

As for the actual gameplay strategy: always let the opponent play a robot first, then play the color that counters it (if opponent has a red icon you play your red T2 robot, always matching the color of the enemy icon). Keep at least 1-2 robots in reserve, in case enemies spawn on a lane you don’t have many robots on you can still counter them. Remember to use your Portal Skills: Aeroga & Comet (Offensive Loadout). Use this when 2 or more enemies are close together. You can also use them on the boss if he’s at low health and you want to force the victory, but generally they are better used on regular enemies to clear the path.

Johnny’s Treasure Trove

  • Unlock Requirement:Finish Side Quest:The Saga of the Seaside Inn, can be started in Chapter 7 in Costa del Sol, but can’t be completed until Chapter 9 when you have access to all of Corel region

Technically not a minigame, but more of a completionist requirement. After helping Johnny repair his inn throughSide Quest:The Saga of the Seaside Inn, he will put up a treasure trove and display your Collector’s Items upstairs in his inn. At Johnny’s Inn you can press L2 to view your current treasure trove as well as hints on how to find more collector’s items. This is the hidden 100% completion requirement in the game.

For all item requirements refer to:
