Thalapathy Vijay's Varisu has been the talk of the town for the past few weeks. The film, directed by Vamshi Paidipally, is all set for a grand release on January 12. Ahead of the film's release, the makers will release the trailer today, December 4, at 5 pm. Varisu marks noted Telugu producer Dil Raju's maiden production venture in Tamil. As the trailer is just a few hours away, here are the 10 things to know about the Thalapathy Vijay-starrer.

10 THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT THALAPATHY VIJAY'S VARISU
Varisu marks the first collaboration of Thalapathy Vijay and Vamshi Paidipally. The film boasts a huge star cast including Vijay, Rashmika Mandanna, Prakash Raj, Prabhu, SJ Suryah, Jayasudha and several others.
1. Varisu is a family entertainer in which Vijay plays the lead role. Telugu actor Srikanth Meka and Tamil actor Shyam will be seen as Vijay's brothers in the film. In a media interaction, Srikanth revealed that he will have emotional scenes with Thalapathy in the film.

2. Composer S Thaman's Ranjithame song, sung by Vijay, broke several records. At the audio launch of Varisu, choreographer Jani revealed that there's 1-minute single-shot sequence in the song that the actor rocked.
3. Prakash Raj and Vijay are one of the iconic duos in Tamil cinema, thanks to Ghilli. 14 years later, the two have joined hands again to make Varisu one of the memorable films of their careers. At the audio launch, Prakash Raj revealed that he is the main villain in the film.
4. Reportedly, Varisu is being made on a mammoth budget of Rs 200 crore. It is said that Thalapathy Vijay's remuneration stands in the range of Rs 100 to 120 crore, making him one of the highest paid actors in Kollywood.
5. Rashmika Mandanna, in several interviews, revealed that she has a crush on Thalapathy Vijay. At the audio launch, she revealed that the craze began when she watched Vijay's Ghilli with her father. At the shooting spot of Varisu, Rashmika said that she was fangirling over Vijay.
6. Producer Dil Raju, in an earlier interview, revealed that Varisu will remind us of 1990s Vijay. Mentioning Vijay's films like Poove Unakaga, the producer said, "Vamshi has come up with a beautiful storyline. When I listened to it, I loved it. Vijay listened to the story and said that he hadn't heard a story like this in 20 years. When a star says this, it gives you confidence."

7. Director SJ Suryah gave Thalapathy Vijay a break in his career with Kushi. Cut to 2022, Suryah is now one of the most sought-after actors in Kollywood. He plays an important role in Varisu. At the audio launch, Vijay said that SJ Suryah plays a minor role and refused to receive remuneration for the same.

8. Simbu sang the viral Thee Thalapathy song in Varisu. Thalapathy Vijay thanked Simbu for lending his voice for peppy number. Reportedly, Simbu refused to receive any remuneration for the song. Similarly, Anirudh Ravichander has sung a song as well.
9. Jayasudha plays Vijay's mother in Varisu. The Soul of Varisu song, sung by KS Chitra, is an emotional number, which found a place in Billboard's list of 'Hot Trending Songs' chart. This is a huge feat for a South Indian song.
10. Thalapathy Vijay's Varisu was initially planned as a Tamil-Telugu bilingual. However, the makers later decided to shoot it only in Tamil. The film will be dubbed in Telugu and released alongside Nandamuri Balakrishna's Veera Simha Reddy and Chiranjeevi's Waltair Veerayya.
